Indian Cadet and Junior Judokas won 6 Bronze and 1 Silver medal in the 10th Asian Cadet and 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships – 2016, Kochi, India.

As per the schedule Judo Federation of India successfully hosted the 10th Asian Cadet and 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships from 7th to 11th September 2016 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi, Kerala.

160 Cadet Boys and Girls and 137 Men and Women Junior Judokas from 23 Asian Countries participated in this Championships.

Indian Judokas raised their medal tally by winning 1 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. The name of the medal winners are :

Cadet Category:

1] Ms. Snehal Ramesh KHAVARE        -     -48Kg ( Silver Medal )

2] Ms. Krishna FOUJDAR            -     -44Kg ( Bronze Medal )

3] Ms. Sweety LUHACH            -     -40Kg ( Bronze Medal )

4] Mr. Somorjit Singh NONGMEIKAPAM    -     -50Kg ( Bronze Medal )

6] Mr. Nitin CHAUHAN            -     -66Kg ( Bronze Medal )

Junior Category

1] Ms. Malaprabha JADHAV            -     -48Kg ( Bronze Medal )

2] Ms. Yamini MOURYA            -     -57Kg ( Bronze Medal )

Overall medal tally in Junior Categories, Korea ( 6 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze), Uzbekistan ( 4 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze ) and Kazakhstan ( 2 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze ) placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, and  India placed 9th position in this Category. 19 Nations from Asia participated in this Championships.

In the Cadet section Japan ( 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze), Korea ( 4 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze), and Kazakhstan ( 3 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze) placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, and  India placed 8th position in Cadet Category. Total 22 Nations participated in this Asian Cadet Championships.
