THANGJAM Tababi Devi of Manipur Bags Asian Cadet Gold

17 member Indian Cadet Judo Team ( 7 boys + 8 girls + 2 coaches ) participated in the 11th Asian Cadet Judo Championships at Sports Complex “ GAZPROM ”, Saadybakasova –Zhaiyl Baatyra Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan ( on 13th& 14th July 2017 ). Indian Judokas won 1 Gold and 2 Bronze in this Cadet Asian Championships.

1] Ms.THANGJAM Tababi Devi of Manipur won the GOLD medal in below 44 Kg. weight category, in which she reached her target by beating Kazakhstan, Mongolia in the preliminaries and in the final again with second player of Mongolia. There is no doubt her performance was outstanding as the standard of Kazakhstan and Mongolia very high in World Judo.There were 10 competitors in her weight category, from Korea, Uzbekistan, Taipei etc.. Ms. Tababi also performed excellent in the Open Selection Trials conducted on 13th June 2017 at SAI Aurangabad, and continued her practice in the National Coaching Camp at SAI Aurangabad till her departure to Bishkek.

2] Ms. SIMRAN of Haryana also performed well and won the BRONZE medal in below 40Kg. Weight Category. In her weight category, there were 6 competitors and she lost first bout to Uzbekistan and in the repechage she beat Kazakhstan and won the Bronze medal.

3] In the below 90Kg weight category, Mr. Paramjeet of Haryana also shown excellent performance and won Bronze. In the first bout he beat Mongolia and loose the second bout to Chinese Taipei. However in the repechage bout for the Bronze he beat Korea and secured Bronze.

Some of other Indian Cadets just missed their medals and placed 5th and 7th in the Championships.

Followed by the Cadet, Indian Junior Judo Team ( 8 men + 8 women ) will also taking part in the 18th Asian Junior Judo Championships on 15th and 16th July at same place.
