I take the opportunity to thank the Judokas, Coaches and Officials for their performance and support for the successful year 2014.
In the Commonwealth Games 2014, Glasgow, by winning Silver medals by Mr. Navjot Chana and Ms. Shushila Devi Likmabam and Bronze medals by Ms. Kalpana Devi Thoudam and Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, our Judo players have shown outstanding performance. This has proved our best performance in the Commonwealth Games. The Cadet and Junior Judokas has also given their best performance in Asian Cadet and Junior Judo Championships 2014, Hong Kong by winning 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 8 Bronze. I hope these achievements will boost the Indian Judokas for excellence in the year 2015.
JFI is going to set up JFI Training Centres in interested States/NGOs/Schools in association with State Judo Associations, and Sponsors to identify young talents from the nearby areas and to give more opportunities to participate in State / National level Judo events and further excellence.
I am also happy to inform you that JFI in association with the International Judo Federation (IJF) is organising “Judo Educational Journey through India” in 2015 - 16. The purpose to organise the programme is to increase the playing population of Judo, Identify young talents, to help the local Judo clubs and coaches to develop Judo at grass root level, and to educate the players that Judo is a perfect educational tool, and a sport for excellence.
Many Judokas with their excellent performances has written their names in the History of Judo, and I am confident that more players will bring glory to our sport, and to spread the values of Judo in India.
