Shushila Devi bags Gold Medal in the Asian Youth Judo Championships 2011, Lebanon

Indian Judo Team bags 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in the Asian Youth & Junior Judo Championships 2011, Lebanon:

15 Member Indian Judo Team ( Youth: 2 Boys and 3 Girls & Junior: 5 Boys and 5 Girls ) participated in the 5th Asian YOUTH Judo Championships –2011 and 12th Asian JUNIOR Judo Championships 2011, held from 28th September to 3rd October 2011 at Beirut, Lebanon.

5th Asian Youth Judo Championships-2011:
Indian Junior Champion Ms. Likmabam SHUSHILA DEVI ( Manipur ) become the Asian Champion by bagging Gold medal in below 52 Kg. weight category in the 5th Asian Youth Judo Championships held at Beirut. Ms. Shushila shown excellent performance in each bouts won by Ippon with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan players, and considering her excellence in the championship Judo Union of Asia awarded her as the Best Judo Player Award of the 5th Asian Youth Judo Championships. Ms. Shushila is the Gold medalist of the Commonwealth Judo Championships held in January 2010 at Singapore and the Bronze medalist of Asian Youth Judo Championships 2009 held at Yemen.

Ms. B.R. Sangeeta ( Karnataka ) the Junior National Champion also won Silver Medal in Above 63 Kg. Weight Category, in the 5th Asian Youth Judo Championships.
  
12th Asian Junior Judo Championships-2011:
In the 12th Asian Junior Judo Championships, Indian Judokas won 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. The name and Weight Categories of the medal winners of the 12th Asian Junior Judo Championships are as under:

 1. Ms. H. Dhanapriyari below 44 Kg. - Silver medal
 2. Ms. Kuthuja Multhani below 48 Kg. - Silver medal
 3. Ms. H. Sunibala  below 70 Kg - Silver medal
 4. Mr. Veerbhan  below 60 Kg - Bronze medal
 5. Mr. Avtar Singh  below 81 Kg. - Bronze medal

Indian Judo Team placed runner-up in the girls section. Players from 19 countries participated in this Championships including Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Korea, DPR Korea. Mr. Virender Singh and Mr. Surinder Singh Sodi accompanied as Coaches of the Indian Judo Team.
