First of all, I extend my heartiest Congratulations to the Judo Family of India.

 

It is our pride that Ms. Linthoi CHANAMBAM, Judoka from Manipur State made history last night by clinching India's first ever Gold Medal in Judo in the ongoing World Judo Championships - Cadets, 2022, Bosnia.

 

Ms. Linthoi showed an excellent performance throughout the Championships by winning all her bouts by Ippon under the below 57Kg. weight category and created history by winning Gold medal as no Indian Judoka has ever reached a medal bout at any World Judo Championships. Ms. Linthoi was recommended for this world Championships on the basis of her Gold medal in the recent Asian Cadet & Junior Judo Championships 2022 held at Bangkok.

 

Ms. Linthoi is hailing from a farmers family of Manipur and she was selected for the NCOE Centre at IIS Bellary and is one of the identified Judoka for the preparation of 2024 Olympic Games by the Sports Authority of India.
