Heading: 20th Asian Games: Promising Indian judo players ready for big match:

Three promising female judo players---Asmita Dey (below 48kg), Yamini Mourya (below 57kg) and Takhellambam Inunganbi (below 70kg) are focused to deliver good results at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games starting Saturday in Japan. The judo competition will commence later this month. Asmita will compete on September 30, Yamini and Inunganbi will be in action on October 1.

The Asian Games bound judo players attended international exposure camp at Tokyo’s National Training Centre and Tsukuba University. “The international exposure camp in Japan was a good opportunity for Indian players to polish their skills. The sparring partners were good. The training facilities were excellent,” said National judo coach Jiwan Sharma. “We also got a chance to practice with the Japan’s national team.”

The SAI (Sports Authority of India) sanctioned a Pre-Asian Games camp in Japan for the Indian judo team ahead of the 20th Asian Games. The fortnight camp began on September 11. The national team will reach Aichi-Nagoya from Tsukuba University on September 26.

The camp in Japan was part of the broader support being extended to India’s Asian Games-bound athletes by the SAI.

The sanction for international exposure was granted under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Assistance to National Sports Federations (ANSF) scheme and was a good opportunity to get acclimatised ahead of the Asian Games.
